Fairy Tale Murder Mystery Introduction To The Theme

Grimm was a fantastic writer who was known around the world for his book of fairy tales. He collected folk tales and created some of his own in a large collection that captured audiences anywhere. However, what the readers did not know was that magic did not only exist in Grimm’s tales. He possessed a magical pen that brought all of his characters to life. They were trapped in his book, but after an accident many of them managed to escape. They ended up in Grimm’s mansion.

Grimm was not well-liked by his creations. He caused many of them to suffer in their stories, and he created extremely difficult lives for his characters. When the characters ended up in Grimm’s mansion, torn from their stories, they realized that they had a chance to get revenge on their creator. They all came together and decided that they would work together to figure out the best way to get this revenge. However, one character strayed from the plan and took matters into their own hands, murdering Grimm in cold blood.

Grimm was murdered in his library. He had been poisoned by a poison apple, just as he had written for one of his characters in a story. Found near his body was the apple that killed Grimm, a spilled pot of ink, a red rose, and a pile of broken glass. Grimm’s magical pen was nowhere to be found.

The characters were angry that one of their own had disregarded their plan to get communal revenge. They decided to solve the murder themself and figure out who had killed Grimm on their own. It is now up to you to figure out who had the motive, means, and opportunity to murder Grimm. It could be any of you, and no one knows who it is, not even the killer themself. Solve the murder to prove your own innocence… unless you are guilty. Good luck!

Sample Characters (Actual Characters Will Vary Based on Number/Gender of Players)

Prince Charming has always been thought of as perfect. He has perfect hair, a perfect face, and a perfect life. However, many people don’t realize that the Prince is part of many stories, forcing him to be spread very thin. He is forced to be the love interest in several fairy tales, and he can never settle into just one. He has several love interests, houses, and lives. It is often too much for the Prince to handle, so getting pulled out of the story provided him a much-needed breath of fresh air.

Robin Hood has always aimed to steal from the rich to help the poor. He has caused a lot of trouble in his life, and he is a very controversial figure. However, Robin let the power get to his head and he started stealing for selfish reasons. He was now very wealthy himself, although he tried to hide it from the masses. His motivations changed and he no longer really cared about the poor. He felt bad for thinking it, but it was true.

Snow White has always been very naive. The Evil Queen, who happened to be her stepmother, tried to have her killed because she was the fairest in the land. Snow White lived, barely, and she ended up getting poisoned. Snow White barely survived, but when she came back, she was set on revenge. She took on the role as Queen and had her stepmother executed. She became an Evil Queen of sorts herself, and Snow White didn’t like the person she’d become.

Alice went to Wonderland once, a magical world full of wonder. Ever since she came home, she’s been trying to get back. She hasn’t found a way to do so, however, and it has been destroying her. People in the real world call her crazy, but she knows the truth- she isn’t crazy, she just has to do whatever it takes to get back to Wonderland. Alice knows that whatever it takes might be dangerous, but she is willing to give up everything.

Peter Pan is a young boy who can never grow old. He has been this way for as long as he could remember, and while he enjoyed being a kid, the forever part of it all was really taking a toll on him. Peter had a group of children who joined him called the Lost Boys, and once he got them to agree, they would become forever young just like him. He felt bad for stealing their chance to grow old, as they were just kids and didn’t know better, but he also knew that he couldn’t be alone forever.

Sleeping Beauty has hardly had any time to actually live. Most of her life has been spent sleeping after an evil fairy put a curse on her. When she woke up after 100 years of slumber, her entire family and everyone that she had ever known was dead. It was extremely traumatizing, and she was left with the Prince and no one else. Now, every time she closed her eyes to go to bed she was terrified, and it was taking a huge toll on her life.
