Camping Trip Murder Mystery Introduction To The Theme

Be prepared.

Always, be prepared.

The suspects sat around campfire, ready for an exciting weekend. The annual camping trip was a chance to win trophies, become best friends, and prove that the suspects were shaping up to be strong leaders. And all of the suspects had been looking forward to it-- they had won a local bake sale competition, which meant the weekend was going to be filled with prizes and surprises.

Yet on the first night of the camping trip, things didn’t go as planned... for as the girls started singing campfire songs, they realized their chaperone was missing! Mary Lee had been camping chaperone for years, along with Alyssa Brockwell’s mom, Natalia, and she was seen as the group mom by the suspects... well, by most of them.

However, one of them killed Mary... and it is up to you to figure out who. Mary was poisoned via a poisoned brownie. She went into the woods to talk to some of the girls, and it was there that she took a bite from a brownie and quickly passed away as the poison spread throughout her bloodstream. Found by Mary’s body was a trophy that was going to the winner of some camping games, a ticket to the local high school’s football game, a napkin with the phone number (555)-243-3XXX (with the last numbers ripped off) on it, and a lighter.

It is now time to figure out who had the motive, means, and opportunity to murder. It could be any one of you, and remember, no one, not even the murderer themself, knows who did it. Good luck.

Sample Characters (Actual Characters Will Vary Based on Number/Gender of Players)

Alyssa’s mom is the camping trip co-chaperone, and she has been a loyal friend since she could talk. Alyssa consistently tops the sales chart for the bake sales, and she is at every event that the camping group throws. She loves to earn new trophies and make new friends, and everyone thinks Alyssa is kind, dedicated, and entirely devoted to the rest of the suspects.

Sierra is a basketball player, and she joined the camping group because most of her friends love to camp. Sierra loves all sports, though basketball has always been her favorite, as she is incredibly good at it. State basketball scouts have started to contact her, and she thinks she could truly make a future for herself.

Courtney has wanted to go camping since she was a kid, but her parents hated the outdoors, so last year was the first year she was able to go camping with the other girls. Ever since, Courtney has been obsessed. She wants as many trophies as possible, and she loves becoming close friends with the other girls. Still, sometimes Courtney feels a bit out of place, as it isn’t always easy to break into a new group.

Michaela has been a member of the camping group troop since it first started, and she and
Alyssa are best friends. Michaela loves camping trips, though sometimes, other people think she can be a bit too intense. Especially when bake sale season comes along... and while Michaela admits she can sometimes get a bit carried away, it is only because she loves her friends.

Sloane and Brittney are twins, though they don’t have that much in common. Sloane has always been more into academics, and she is on the science olympiad and on the quiz bowl team. However, Sloane is just as popular as her sister; people always go to Sloane when they need advice.

Brittney is very confident and athletic, and she is known for being strong--both physically and mentally. She plays soccer, basketball, and gymnastics, and she is constantly going to tournaments. Sometimes, Brittney feels like she has too many commitments--and camping isn’t always her top priority.
