Graduation Murder Mystery Introduction To The Theme

Graduation is the day that every senior waits for. It is the day when a student finally gets to leave school and become a true adult, putting their knowledge to the test. The day itself is full of excitement, friends, and joy. Students get to collect their diplomas and walk in front of the entire school. Afterwards, there is a huge party that every student gets to go to.

However, for one student, the day definitely did not go as planned.

After the diplomas were passed out, as the big party started, the body of Isabella James was discovered, dead. She was found outside of the warehouse where the party was being held. Isabella had been valedictorian and she had made a big speech at graduation about how excited she was for the future and to see what all of her fellow classmates would accomplish -- a dream that she would never be able to realize.

Isabella was found with six stab wounds: three in the chest, two in the arm, and one in the neck. Her body was found at 7:45 p.m. outside of the warehouse where the party was being held, but she was presumed to have been killed at 7:30. Found near the body was Isabella’s diploma, a black pen, a blue and gold friendship bracelet, a granola bar, and the knife that was used as the murder weapon.

Now, it is up to you to find out who murdered Isabella James. It could be any of the ten of you, and it is now time to begin questioning to figure out who had the motive, means, and opportunity to kill Isabella. Good luck!

Sample Characters (Actual Characters Will Vary Based on Number/Gender of Players)

Ava Smith is the student body president at school. She has always been really bubbly and she has a ton of school spirit, so it was the perfect job for her. Ava was in charge of planning out the graduation ceremony and she also gave a speech to motivate her fellow graduates. Ava has never been the best student but she loves going to school and spending time with her friends and her peers.

Michael Peters is an athlete. He is the captain of the varsity basketball team and he is easily the best player. Michael is very popular around school and he is known for throwing epic parties. He is the typical jock, and he can rub people the wrong way, but most people are friends with him and they know him for being an amazing athlete.

Liza Shaw is a very average student. She isn’t particularly smart but she does okay in school. She isn’t very popular but she also has plenty of friends. Liza doesn’t like going to school, as she finds it to be very boring, but she figures that it could be worse. She loves hanging out with friends and she really comes out of her shell during the weekends, and she is very fun to be around.

Johnny McKenna is a huge nerd. He loves playing video games and he is not afraid to let people know about it. He is in the marching band at school and most of his time is spent at practice or in his room with his video games. Johnny embraces being called a nerd and while he can sometimes be bullied for his quirks, he is proud of the person that he is and he wouldn’t ever change.

Noelle Powers is very smart. She is the captain of her school’s Model United Nations team and she is planning on becoming a lawyer when she grows up. Noelle was runner-up to be the school’s valedictorian, but she was second, which she was upset about. Noelle always strives to be the best and she makes sure that everyone knows it, but overall she is well liked by her peers.

Grant Costa is known as a troublemaker. He is constantly ditching class and he spends a lot of time in detention or the dean’s office. He is frankly surprised that he is even able to graduate given his terrible track record. Grant would rather have fun and party than be in school and he doesn’t care that his teachers don’t like him. He has a good time which is what is most important to him.
