Plot

Greek Gods Murder Mystery Introduction To The Theme

Mt. Olympus was a place that mortals only heard about. The Greek Gods supposedly lived up there, ruling over the mortals and even interfering in their lives when they so pleased. One mortal, Tyro, had been dealing with interference from the gods for his whole life. He was an interesting man- he was a poor bard in love with a wealthy woman who he could never have. Tyro was an extremely honest man and he lived his life with the goal of improving the world. The gods noticed this and some of them chose to reward him. However, he became greedy and his ego soon took over. Tyro became arrogant and cruel. He ended up killing the father of the woman that he loved so that he could be with her.

The gods were angry that Tyro had used their gifts for evil. They called him up to Mt. Olympus to have a trial. Many of the gods disagreed on what to do with Tyro, and they were all curious to get to meet him. The gods gathered at Mt. Olympus in order to decide how to deal with Tyro. However, before they could make their final decision, Tyro was found dead.

Tyro had been poisoned by an herbal concoction. He was found dead a few meters in front of Zeus’s throne. Found near the body was an empty glass vial, a red rose, and a golden dagger. It is now up to you- the gods- to figure out who killed Tyro, preventing justice from being served. The guilty god will be subject to a trial themself. While the gods are free to interfere with mortals on earth, there is no tolerance for killing a human at Mt. Olympus, especially not like this. Figure out who the killer is, and prove yourself innocent in the process… if you even are innocent. No one knows who the killer is, not even the killer themself. Good luck.

Sample Characters (Actual Characters Will Vary Based on Number/Gender of Players)

Ares is the god of courage and war. He is extremely strong and physical, and he can be very intimidating to those around him. Ares sees war as a beautiful form of chaos, and he is able to see the beauty in all chaos because of this viewpoint. Ares gets into trouble often, both with mortals and with other gods, but he always handles it in the best way that he knows how to.

Athena is the goddess of wisdom and war. She is an extremely powerful goddess, and she is feared by many. Athena is looked to often when a person is seeking advice, and she always does her best to help those in need. She is very assertive and she makes sure to always get what she wants. It is not that hard for her to do so, luckily. Athena loves meeting mortals and helping them to solve their problems, although it can get her into trouble at times.

Hades is the god of the Underworld. He is extremely powerful, and his realm contains all of the human souls after death. He very rarely leaves the underworld, and he is quite isolated from the other gods. However, he finds no reason to leave his home, as it is the place where he is the most powerful and respected. Some of the other gods are cruel to Hades, and he prefers to surround himself with undead souls.

Apollo is the god of the sun and light. His domain also extends to music, poetry, healing and plagues, prophecy, order, archery, and agriculture. His main job is helping the sun rise each day which is extremely important and requires great precision and care. Apollo is very powerful but he is often overlooked by the other gods. They think that his job is boring and repetitive, and Apollo is trying to think of a way to prove them all wrong.

Artemis is the goddess of the hunt, the moon, and chastity. She carries a bow and quiver of arrows with her everywhere she goes, and she is very beautiful. Artemis has had to deal with a lot of challenges, especially from the other gods, and she is somewhat of a lone wolf because of it. When she trusts someone, however, she trusts them wholeheartedly and would do anything for them.

Poseidon is the god of the sea. His domain consists of every ocean, and he possesses great power. Poseidon rides a water horse around, commanding everyone in his presence. He can be ill-tempered and violent, but he tries to be as fair as possible. Poseidon is feared by many, but he is also worshiped which he loves. He has gotten into fights with his fair number of gods and goddesses as well.
