Plot

Monster Mayhem Murder Mystery Introduction To The Theme

A group of monsters gathered in the dark.

Red eyes blinking. Anger brewing. For too long, they had allowed humans to control them: fear went both ways. But no longer. The monsters were angry, and they were tired of being cast into the shadows.

Every year, monsters from across the world (and underworld) come together at the Domus Monstrorum. It was a time to celebrate what they all cherished-- fear. Fear is what made the monsters powerful, and they needed more of it. There were too many humans who had forgotten their true power, and that needed to change. It seemed as if they were all in agreement: the monsters would take control over humanity with no remorse and no hesitation.

Yet they were not as closely aligned as they thought… for in the middle of the meetup, one of the monsters, Anwa, was found dead! Anwa was a Frankenstein--she had died years ago and been clumsily put back together. Yet she was well-liked by the other monsters--in a way, they pitied her. Yet one of them killed her.

Anwa’s body was found inside of a hidden laboratory inside the Domus Monstrorum. She had been stabbed through the heart with a silver dagger--the dagger was found next to her body. The silver dagger was something that could kill almost any monster, and resurrection afterward was not an option. Anwa was dead for good. A human femur bone, flashlight, and green ribbon were also found by her body.

It is now time to find out who has the motive, means, and opportunity to murder Anwa. Remember, it could be any of the twelve of you… and no one knows who did it, not even the killer themself. Solve the murder to get justice for Anwa and prove your innocence… if you even are innocent. Good luck!

Sample Characters (Actual Characters Will Vary Based on Number/Gender of Players)

Draven is a vampire who has been hiding his true identity for years. He was struggling to avoid the temptation of blood, yet he was unable to hide his inner vampire. After being discovered, Draven had to leave town, causing him to end up living in the graveyard. He had been struggling not to gorge on blood, yet humans were everywhere, and he was hungry.

Astrid is a werewolf, and she is known among the other monsters as a true visionary. She has been trying to gain support from the other monsters in order to stage an uprising against the humans so that no monsters would have to live in hiding. Her ideas have been popular, but she has not managed to gain enough followers who were truly committed to the cause, no matter the cost.

Gordon is a descendant of the kraken. He is a blend of monster and human, but he is committed to exploring his monster side. He has been working on building a reputation for himself and he has done some questionable things in order to do it. He is known throughout the monster community for being strong and dangerous, both to humans and other monsters alike.

Kali is a mummy. In her lifetime, she was a brilliant pharaoh who ruled over Egypt. Millions of people did her bidding and she loved the power. Even in death, Kali was worshipped by her people. When she came back as a mummy, she craved power and was well known for being a strong, independent woman while also being extremely evil and malicious.

Vega is a siren. She is extremely beautiful and she uses her beauty to capture the hearts of men and lead them towards their deaths. Vega sings a song that attracts people to her in order for her to kill them. She never feels sorry after she kills someone and she finds it to be extremely relaxing and even fun at times.

Bethany is a human, and she was only invited to the monster gathering because she had information. Apparently, some humans had been planning an attack on the monsters and Bethany wanted to prevent it. She understood both perspectives and hoped to be a unifying force between the two groups, yet she had to figure out how to do it without risking her life.
