Office Holiday Party Murder Mystery Introduction To The Theme

Happy holidays from the office!

Every year, Workman and Company hosts a holiday party to die for. As a chance to relax and unwind, the holiday party is where everyone can finally shed their suits and ties and get to know each other. Everyone was looking forward to the holiday party, which would be filled with games, fun, and celebrating one of the best times of year. And given that Matthew Workman, the company’s founder, announced there would be a big surprise at the holiday party, everyone was practically buzzing with excitement.

But this year, things weren’t so jolly.

At the annual secret santa gift exchange, one of the gifts was poisoned! It was the gift given to Matthew Workman, the company’s founder and the big boss. The gift was signed only “-your secret santa,” meaning it could’ve been any of you who were at the party. There were a few clues found by the body: some meeting notes from an all-company meeting in the morning, a hotel room keycard, a small gold bracelet, and a single match.

It is now up to you to figure out who had the motive, means, and opportunity to kill Matthew. Each of you are a suspect. Remember, no one knows who did it, not even the killer themself. Find the killer and prove your own innocence… if you even are innocent. Good luck!

Sample Characters (Actual Characters Will Vary Based on Number/Gender of Players)

Todd is the vice president of Workman and Co, though Matthew Workman didn’t always treat him as an equal. Todd is incredibly competitive, and he can be seen as aggressive by some of his coworkers. However, they generally like him, as they admire his motivation. Todd is truly committed to the company, and his work ethic is unmatched… even by Matthew.

Simone is a salesperson, and she makes the most sales of anyone in the company. She has always been a star: whether it was high school sports, being prom queen, or graduating number one in her class, Simone has always been perfect. Other people envy her, and sometimes, Simone feels like no one really likes her. But she just wants to be exceptional, and she is willing to do anything to achieve that.

Brad is Matthew Workman’s personal assistant. He’s been at the company for a year, and has been the assistant to last the longest. Matthew is known for having a temper, but Brad is incredibly good at reading people. He knows how to make everyone like him, and how to stay out of people’s way, and sometimes, it is almost like he can make himself invisible.

Kate is a corporate event planner. She does all sorts of events for Workman and Co, and also serves as the office manager. Everyone at the office reports back to her, and she was in charge of planning the holiday party! Kate outdoes herself every year, and this year will be no different… She is determined to make it the best holiday party yet.

Christopher is an accountant, and he deals with the finances of the company. It is boring work, but he is good at it. Christopher has always been somewhat entrepreneurial, and he always questions how he got so sucked up into the corporate world… especially given some of the recent events that have happened at the company that have made him question everything.

Julie is Matthew Workman’s niece, and she just started working at Workman and Co. So far, she loves it, though not everyone at the office has been so welcoming. Julie can be forgetful, and she likes to party…she thinks everyone at the office could loosen up a bit, while everyone else thinks Julie doesn’t take work seriously enough, and she only gets away with it because she is related to the boss.
