Prom Murder Mystery Introduction To The Theme
The biggest event of the year was coming: prom! All of the students were incredibly excited, and the event had been planned for months. Everyone was excited for music, dancing, eating, partying, and of course, the announcement of prom queen and king. With several students having been campaigning for the title, things had gotten a little out of hand.
On the night of the murder, all of the suspects were enjoying themselves, and they placed votes for prom queen and king prior to the murder. Just as the prom queen and king were about to be announced, however, Haley Sanderson was found dead. She had been murdered.
Haley was found dead in the backstage area of the prom stage, preparing to go out with the other members of the prom court so that the prom king and queen could be announced. She was poisoned, likely delivered through the fruit punch that all of the guests had been so readily drinking. Found by the body was a voting slip for prom queen that had Haley’s name on it and was ripped in half, a single red rose petal, and an empty punch cup.
Someone at the prom murdered Haley Sanderson, and it is up to you to figure out who. It could be any of you, and remember, nobody knows who did it-- not even the killer themself! It is time to figure out who had the motive, means, and opportunity to murder… good luck!

Sarah is a student at Emerson, and she is currently in the running for prom queen. She has always been part of the popular crew, and sometimes she is seen as a bit of a “mean girl.” While she does have a clique who she likes to hang out with, she tries her best to be nice to everyone. Even still, she knows that she can’t be liked by everyone, so she may as well do whatever she wants.
Henry is a jock, and he is a football player at Emerson. Henry is a very nice guy, and even though he hangs with the popular crew, he also has friends in a lot of different friend groups. Henry recently got injured during the football game and has been out for the season, so he has been in a bad mood recently, and he almost didn’t show up to prom.
Brenda is an artist, and she spends most of her time in the art room creating. She is going to college to study art and is determined to make it big one day, and her art keeps her very busy. She doesn’t have much time to socialize, but she was excited about prom-- mostly because she wanted to debut her hand-made masterpiece of a dress.
Tyler is a hockey player, and he recently led the hockey team to a state victory. Ever since, Tyler has had a surge in popularity, and some people are even speculating that he will win prom king. He can be shy and doesn’t always like to be the center-of-attention, but sometimes, it is nice to be noticed.
Lucy hates school, and she tries to get out of going as much as possible. She regularly ditches and is known to be a troublemaker, but in all honesty, she doesn’t care. Lucy does what she wants to and she doesn’t care if there are repercussions; she is excited to just be done with high school and live the life she wants to live.
Isaac is incredibly smart, and while he doesn’t always fit in, he is known around school for his intelligence. As the captain of the mathletes and the science olympiad team, Isaac has won several national competitions, and he is incredibly successful. He is a genuine guy, and despite not being in the popular crowd, he is well-liked.
